GALLATIN HAM RADIO CLUB SEP NOVDec 24 2007 20102011 12 captures 29 Jan 04 - 24 Nov 10 Close Help 146.88 Bridger Repeater Net Preamble QST QST QST THIS IS (MY CALL SIGN) _________CALLING THE W7ED BRIDGER REPEATER NET. MY NAME IS _____________ . THIS NET MEETS EACH TUESDAY EVENING AT 8:00 P.M. ON THE 146.88 BRIDGER REPEATER. THIS REPEATER IS LOCATED ABOUT 11 MILES NORTH OF BOZEMAN, ON THE RIDGE ABOVE THE BRIDGER SKI LIFT. THE PURPOSE OF THE NET IS FOR THE DISCUSSION OF ANY AMATEUR RADIO RELATED TOPICS AND IS OPEN TO ALL CURRENTLY LICENSED AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS. BEFORE WE BEGIN, IS THERE ANY PRIORITY OR EMERGENCY TRAFFIC ? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY QSTs FOR THE NET? I WOULD LIKE TO START CHECK-INS WITH THOSE HAMS WHO ARE MOBILE OR NEEDED TO CHECK IN AND OUT SO THEY CAN CONTINUE. COME NOW AND I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OF YOU AS YOU CHECK IN. The above is only a suggestion for anyone wanting some assistance on what to say and how to say it during the net. Please feel free to adopt your own preamble. The following are some things I personally do to help myself during net check in. Basically you are “net control”. This means that you are responsible to keep track of whom checks in and to control the orderly nature of the net. You control who talks to who and when. Procedures and optional considerations. Consider taking mobiles and early outs first so they can check in and get about their business. Then take regular check-ins. I like to acknowledge each person with their call as they call in, to slow down the rate at which call-ins occur. As you become more proficient with recording the calls, you might want to let people call in at will. If you have a string of call-ins you will need to read back your list so the check-ins know you have heard and recorded their call. Once everyone has checked in, go back to the top and call for each person to contribute or respond to the net in turn. If someone has a question it is up to you to help find the answer and to control the flow of the conversation. Pick up the control again when questions have been answered. At the end of net I like to offer another opportunity for people to contribute or ask questions. Reread any QST’s or other items people have announced for emphasis and to inform people who missed the beginning of net. Then close the net, announce the time and “return the repeater to normal use”
